We all know the frustrations of modern life and juggling a busy schedule, but speed limits are put in place to protect all road users. The roads are wet and icy this time of year, and if you choose to speed, it may result in an unexpected tragedy. Please view and use the following information to learn why faster doesn’t mean safer. Speeding is deadly, and never a good idea. Don’t step on it like Stu. Allow extra time when driving to ensure you don’t have to rush anywhere. In the event you are running late, keep in mind it is always better to arrive alive and a couple of minutes late, then it is to be involved in a car crash. “Barefoot in Fenwick: Life on the Isle in the 19th and 20th Centuries” Public Lecture at Ocean View Town Hall, Jan. 22, at 7 p.m.

“Barefoot in Fenwick: Life on the Isle in the 19th and 20th Centuries,” is the topic of educator and author, Dr. Kimberly Grimes’ public lecture at the Ocean View Town Hall, 32 West Ave., on Wednesday, January 22, 2020, at 7 PM.  A Fenwick native, Dr. Grimes, will talk about Fenwick’s beginnings as a Camp Meeting, and its colorful past of land disputes between MD and DE.  The lecture is free for Ocean View Historical Society Members and $5 for others.  The lecture is sponsored by the Coastal Towns Historic Village in Ocean View.  Light refreshments will be served and free parking is available in the Ocean View town lots.   Questions should be directed to Carol Psaros, ckpsaros@aol.com of the Coastal Towns Historic Village in Ocean View.

In observance of Christmas, Millville Town Hall will be closed Monday, December 23 to Wednesday, December 25. Town Hall will be open at regular time on Thursday, December 26. Also, in observance of New Year’s Day, Millville Town Hall will be closed on Wednesday, January 1, but will reopen at regular time on Thursday, January 2. We wish all of you a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year!

7th Annual Millville Holiday Market, Saturday, Dec. 7, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Join the Town of Millville on Saturday, December 7, 2019, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., for its 7th Annual Holiday Market! Over 30 vendors will be set up at Millville Town Hall (36404 Club House Road, Millville) and across the street at the Millville United Methodist Church (MUMC) community building (36405 Club House Road, Millville)! There will be food available for purchase from Top Five BBQ Bakery … just in case all the shopping gets you hungry! Raffle tickets will be on sale the day of the event, at Town Hall, for a Chinese auction to win various gift baskets and prizes from local businesses. Tickets will cost $1 for 1 ticket or $5 for 6 tickets. ALL money from ticket sales will be donated to Southern Delaware Therapeutic Riding! Parking will be available at the Church parking lot! The Wall That Heals (Vietnam Veterans Memorial replica) Coming to Ocean View VFW, Oct. 3-6, 2019

The Wall That Heals, a replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., along with a mobile Education Center, is coming to the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 7234 in Ocean View (29265 Marshy Hope Way, Ocean View, DE 19970) from Thursday, October 3 to Sunday, October 6, will be open 24 hours a day and is free to the public. There will be a wreath ceremony on Saturday, October 5, at 11 a.m. The Wall That Heals honors the almost three million Americans who served in the U.S. Armed forces in the Vietnam War and bears the names of the more than 58,000 men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in Vietnam.
